Candle Care
Thank you for choosing our handcrafted soy candles! To ensure you get the most out of your candle and enjoy a clean, long-lasting burn, we’ve put together some simple tips to help you care for your candle.
1. Trim Your Wick
Before each use, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps prevent the flame from becoming too large, which can cause the candle to burn too quickly or unevenly. It also reduces the amount of soot, ensuring a cleaner burn.
2. First Burn: Let It Pool
For the first burn, let your candle burn long enough to create a full melt pool across the surface of the wax. This helps the candle burn evenly, preventing “tunneling” (where the center burns down faster than the edges). Ideally, your first burn should last about 3-4 hours, depending on the size of your candle.
3. Keep Candles in a Safe Place
Always burn your candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, fans, and anything flammable. Never leave a lit candle unattended. Keep your candle out of reach of children and pets to avoid accidents.
4. Burn Time: No More Than 4 Hours
For the best experience, we recommend burning your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This prevents the candle from overheating, preserves the fragrance, and ensures a clean, even burn throughout.
5. Extinguishing Your Candle
When you’re ready to extinguish your candle, use a candle snuffer or gently blow it out. Avoid using a wick dipper (which may cause wax to splash) or blowing too hard, which can result in a smoky smell.
6. Reusing and Recycling
Once your candle has burned down to about 1/2 inch of wax, it’s time to say goodbye. But don't throw the jar away! You can reuse it for storage, as a plant pot, or repurpose it as a decorative piece. If you want to clean out the leftover wax, place the jar in the freezer for a few hours, and the wax should pop right out.
7. Storage Tips
When you’re not burning your candle, store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. This helps preserve the fragrance and prevents the wax from fading or becoming discolored.
By following these simple care tips, you’ll ensure your soy candles burn cleanly and last longer, giving you the perfect ambiance every time. Thank you for supporting our handmade creations, and we hope our candles bring warmth and joy to your space!
